Rejected! Roy Williams...watch where you're going!

So...US District Court would not excuse me on my terms. I got strung along until just a few minutes ago when I called to get my reporting instructions for 9 AM tomorrow.

I've been REJECTED...my service is not required.  On one hand, I'm very very happy.  On the other hand, how DARE they reject me!  Me...Queen of the Land of Belle. Was it because my son is almost a lawyer?  Is it because my husband works for a public utility?  Was it because I'm an educator?  Was it because I said I could not be objective if selected for a case where a crime was allegedly committed with a firearm purchased illegally?  (Yep...that's probably it...) They asked and I wasn't gonna lie...

I called Legare up in Chapel Hill to tell him I'd been rejected.  He was driving through campus on his way to a Farm Law seminar.  All of a sudden he said, "I can't find a parking place.  Why can't I find a parking place? Oh shoot...I almost ran over Roy Williams."  Roy was apparently jogging off some stress. I imagine he's still a little bummed about the Heels not playing ball last night.

Thankfully, Roy will live to see another day.  I, on the other hand, am still REJECTED!

  2. Well, glad to hear they didn't "need" your services! I was called once when I was six months pregnant and they excused me! I told them I couldn't sit still for more than an hour at a time without a bathroom break! ;)

  4. lol....I know the feeling!! They kicked me off a few weeks ago! I could not believe it!! Guess they didn't like the idea that I worked in the same town that the accused had "alluded the local police" and assaulted one of the police officers - surely it didn't matter that the police frequent our office to check on us (we're a bank) and I take them cookies etc during the holidays and actually was subpoenaed for a case involving 2 of the local police officers related to an incident at our bank - that should not have been a reason though!! I'm just saying!

  5. They'd probably put your son under the jail if he ran over Roy!

In my experience it does not always get you out of jury duty if you have a relative in your family. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. It depends on who the lawyers in the particular case are.
