What a week. Meetings in Columbia for two entire days. Too far to drive back and forth but too close to spend the night. The time alone in the car did give me opportunity to think and reflect. Good thing too...returning to the office on Friday was wild. Two days of work piled up, absent secretary, guidance counselors day at another school, one BIG meeting, DNR presentation to students, ordering of class rings and senior supplies, senior luncheon, second quarter progress reports, and the ten other things that I'm not at liberty to discuss. At least that's what I'm able to remember...
And people wonder why I act the way I do...
Lorelai is in Clemson. Legare is going to the Clemson-Wake game. Hank is hunting.
I finally got my 2010 Christmas with Southern Living. I'm going to read it cover to cover and make my Christmas list. This is the first time in 15 years that I haven't had my shopping done by the week before Thanksgiving. Gosh, I wonder why?
On a different topic...Facebook...I may have offended some people this morning but don't really care. Lorelai is taking a belly dancing class. Yes, this is why we pay the big money to Clemson. Anyhow, she wrote, "Going to belly dancing class...need to get this routine down for my final." First of all, why she feels the need to let everybody in the world know where she is going all the time is BEYOND me. Second of all...three people...adult women who live in our area commented, "post a video for us to see" or something along that line.
SERIOUSLY?? I don't think so! I could resist and commented myself..."her mother does NOT want a video posted online."
Now I ask you...would you want a video of your daughter belly dancing posted on FB, no matter how innocent it might be considered by others? Even if it's just her 1,279 "good" FB friends?
Nope...not me. (Oh goody, now I'm annoyed...)

Sounds like you need a quiet weekend at home to rest and relax. I hope you enjoy your quiet time. I agree with you, I would not want that video online either. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. If it makes you feel better, I don't have my shopping done either. Thankfully my girls love money and gift cards. Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteTime to sit back and open up that Southern Living and have fun! At least she did not complain about her employee on FB as my step daughter did. Or, like the one I hid, tell all about problems with her ovaries (ugh, really???) ORRRRR, tell everyone you are facebooking while sitting in a bubble bath (another one I hid) - what happened with that electric device and water not mixing thing? Let alone I don't want to think about naked people facebooking. I think someone will make a bundle one day studying and writing about the effects of FB on society!
ReplyDeleteNow, back to southern living - the new magazine has a red velvet brownie recipe! I think I HAVE to make this. This weekend...
Smiles!
I feel the same way you do about the belly dancing video!! Too much info!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I agree with you! To much info and these girls do not need to be telling everyone where they are going. It is dangerous!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your SL. Mine hasn't come in the mail yet.
It definitely sounds like you need a relaxing weekend! Enjoy your SL - did I hear red velvet brownies??? And as far as FB status - way too much information. And no, I would NOT want that video posted online. As my husband always says "can these kids not have an unexpressed thought?" Or one of my favorite things I read this week - "is it a coincidence that "twitter" contains the word twit?" I think not. Kat
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want my daughter's belly dancing video on facebook either, BUT I'd love to join her class. I think it would make for some fun. Or some laughs at least.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kat
I'm with you 100%. My week was filled with extremes - extremely satisfying and extremely frustrating ;-) You understand. XOXO
ReplyDeleteRight there with you about NOT posting a video...regardless how innocent it is!
ReplyDeleteGlad you've had some time to yourself....but if you're like me, you can't even enjoy it due to all the things you know needs to be done, got to be done and time running out to do it!! :o)

Hi there ... not being on FB or Twitter I have not quite understood the need it seems others have to detail minute by minute their day - where do they find the time? The challenge here is "bounderies" which young people today (did I just type young people??? LOL) seem to not have. I guess this means I agree 100% with you.
ReplyDeleteWishing a great day ...HHL
I'm with you, it might be innocent but she is way to cute to have this online. Pervs are everywhere!!!
ReplyDeleteOh you're touching on a subject that hits very close to home here. I mean about FB. Let me just say that FB will NEVER be inside this home again. I caved and finally agreed to let my oldest two children have a FB account and it took almost a month before I pulled the plug. Let's just say it is not as safe as everyone thinks it is. PERIOD! Besides that, I can't believe I was reading things like..."so and so loves chocolate", "I'm bored", "I hate Mondays", "I'm going shopping", "I'm cleaning the bathrooms today"...WHO CARES! It's just such an enormous waste of time, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAs for not having your Christmas shopping done. You're in good company, I have done ANY.
