Legare is back in Chapel Hill....Lorelai will be leaving this afternoon to go back to Clemson...by the time you're reading this, I will be sitting at my desk after two weeks of vacation. Hank doesn't want to hear my complaining because he only had three days off during the holidays. I'm also starting back on my low carb diet today. I lost almost almost 30 pounds last year but put the diet on the back burner during the kids' graduations and never really got back in the groove...I've gained back about seven pounds. Todd the Trainer quit on me a couple of months ago and I allowed that to be my excuse for not going to the gym...I've been a Bad Belle!
TODAY IS A NEW DAY!! I'll be in the gym shortly after 4:00 PM. I'll give you an update on February 5...YOU, my blog friends are going to be the ones who hold me accountable because I would NEVER want to disappoint you...not in a million years.
I'm also getting some other priorities in order...I urge you to go over to Warm Pie Happy Home to see what Ruth Ann wrote about getting a good start to the new year. She made me think about several things, one of which is my career. Last year, I let a special project take me over just a bit....I'm storying...it took me over almost completely for several months. While my efforts, along with help from others, made a big difference for a group of at-risk students, I need to do a better job reminding myself that my true life's work is here at home for my family. I've got to leave my work outside the home at the office and really "be present" for my wonderful husband and children.
Yes, indeed...today is a new day!

So did you go to the gym this morning?
ReplyDeleteI am trying to decide if I want to join the gym in our town. I hate working out indoors. I love fresh air and sunshine. Problem is the air around here is hovering around 3 degrees. BRRRRRRR! Decisions. Decisions.
Your absolutely right! I wish you all the best!
ReplyDeleteGood job on going to the GYM. But, the BIG QUESTION IS: Do Southern Belles really need to work out? THat's just not our STYLE. We need to be like Scarlett and just eat tiny bits off our plates! That's the REAL way Belles eat! And, of COURSE, that's that way I eat, darlin'! (yeah, right. And Scarlett was know to tell tiny fibs, too!)
ReplyDeletetoday IS a new day! go belle go! i am pumped up now. need to go run around the block. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! It sounds like you're serious about your resolutions. I'm considering the low carb thing too. I'm probably be better off if someone just shot me & put me out of misery than my poor family having to suffer w/ me while I do low carbs!
ReplyDeleteI love that feeling of renewal!! Good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember if I told you or not, but I'm leaving you an award over at my blog, so be sure to stop by sometime to pick it up!
ReplyDeleteThat is SO awesome that you want to concentrate more on your family! Bravo for you!
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't Ruthann the sweetest and cutest ever!!! As soon as I saw her blog, I was just hooked! Love it!
Come visit me, too! I'm a fellow Southern Sister! :)

good for you! you are really motivating. last year i lost 39. then the summer ended, and i stopped running, and gained back about 12. then halloween came. then thanksgiving. gained about 7 more back. then christmas and new years. i think i am about back where i started. ugh!
ReplyDeleteYou've never been bad Belle to us. Good Luck with the workout and dieting. Yes, it takes a while to realize that work has to stay at work and home has to stay at home :-) I am sure you can do it because you are amazing!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the gym. We all know you can do it!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I wish you all the success in the world. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by today.
I don't get to the gym until 445 and I only get in a 45 minute workout but I do it every day of the week. I have been running and doing other exercises regularly for about two months. So far I have lost an inch on my waist and 14 lbs which is great for the holidays. Starting this year, I am also walking a mile in the evenings with my family. Keep it up, I will give a report in Feburary as well.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! You are probably selling yourself short - from your posts you seem like a wonderful mother!
ReplyDelete♥ I need to start working out again!!! We're eating healthy but have yet to get out and go! :)
ReplyDeleteProbably no big surprise that you're not alone in the diet category. Just picture me turning down delicious desserts and bread (oh how I LOVE bread) right there along with you.
ReplyDeleteI lost over 30 lbs. 3 yrs. ago by watching my carb intake. Then I fell off the proverbial wagon and gained it ALL back... And now I've climbed back on and am holding strong (for an entire 3 days! yeah me!)
Perhaps we can help keep each other in check?
:-)
I'm on the workout daily/eating healthy routine too. I just can't do low carb though--the second I eat a carb I blow back up. I'm really into the healthy grains like brown rice and sprouted grain bread.
