Greetings from Washington

Well...made it through day two of meetings. There is a fair amount of "blah blah yadda yadda yadda" but every now and then, someone utters a little golden nugget of information that might be helpful in my quest to save the world. We'll see...I really only need $4,000,000.00 for this project. (Yes...that is correct...no mistake...four million should about do it this trip.)

You know that I don't just love flying by any stretch...I'm not scared...it's a control issue thing. The flying pills take the edge off , but I still need to be distracted. I turn to magazines...gossipy ones with lots of pictures. I can generally make it to DC with the latest issue of PEOPLE Magazine and an In Touch Weekly or the like.

Anyhow...I had just taken my seat on the plane Sunday morning and was thumbing through a magazine when a lady sat down beside me and mentioned that she and her husband were not seated together. Being the nice southern belle that I am (and noticing that he had an aisle seat which I much preferred anyhow), I volunteered to switch. I ended up having the nicest conversation with the fellow sitting beside me. He'd been at Kiawah and in Charleston for a few days with his wife, who stayed on for business. We talked kids, travel, politics, education, and Clemson football. Before I knew it we were touching down at Reagan National. It was quite an unexpected pleasure.

Here's to unexpected pleasure!

  2. That was very nice of you to switch seats and it looks like it worked out for the best! You have to love it when that happens.

  3. I love unexpected pleasures! Isn't it nice how we can spend just an hour or two with a complete stranger and leave feeling like we've made a new friend?

    Hugs!

  5. Mbkatc230 gets stuck sitting next to the screaming babies. I am usually holding the screaming babies. I don't know why no one wants to sit next to me.

  6. that is so much fun when you have someone interesting to talk to on a plane who you wouldn't have otherwise had the chance to meet. Serendipity is great when it's... great :)

  7. I am so proud of you. While you are in DC, can you bargain for 500K for me. I have a special project to get done around the house and that should do it. I know some stimulus money is hidden in strange places up there...Hope to see you soon with my money.

  8. It's great to know there are some little morsels to be gleaned from the trip, that always makes things a bit better. And who knew we shared the same malady? We call them our "airplane happy pills" and it's the same thing, a minor control issue. (Minor?? Methinks not.)

Worst of all, I *must* be seated on the aisle, because I just know that *when* there is a problem (because of course, there will be a problem, it is only a matter of time), the Captain and crew will need my help. Do I have any skills or talents or anything I would bring to the crisis, other than my little control issues? Nothing whatsoever. But they're still going to need my help, don't you think so Miss Belle? (How pathetic is this little neurosis??! Heh-heh-heh.)

Love this post... and so hoping you get the $4,000,000.
