This and That...That and This

I feel like rambling...

Lorelai Update:  Milan, Reggio, Venice, Reggio, Verona, Reggio, Florence, Reggio, Milan, Paris, London, Milan.  She'll be home on Friday night.  We're really ready to see her sweet little face.

Mother celebrated her 83rd birthday on Monday, although she keeps telling us that she's really a year younger than that because she was never 78.  You figure it out...I don't have the energy. She called one night last week to tell me the following..."A lady gave me a silk jacket.  I don't know why she gave me a silk jacket. I guess I should wear it to church. What do you think?"  (Seriously, I try NOT to think...)

I've finally settled on Weight Watchers Online to track my eating.  I was running a few errands at lunch and decided to grab a Sonic Cherry Limeade...that confounded drink was 10 points!!!  No more Sonic Cherry Limeade.  Don't suggest that I go sugar free...I'd rather drink DITCH WATER than a diet drink.  I cannot imagine know how people swallow them.  Seriously!!  Diet drinks, olives, liver, lamb, licorace.  Can't abide even a taste of any of those four things.

Well...that was all very interesting, wasn't it?

Just curious...what kind of food/drink to you find repulsive??  Anybody else out there dieting?  How's it going?

  1. Beets. I hate beets and even if you roast them in olive oil they still taste exactly like those nasty red stinky cubed things I used to have to cover up with my napkin at school in order to eat the rest of my lunch. Yuck!

I've been doing WW Online since the middle of January and I've lost 33 lbs. I've stalled out the last month or so, just staying steady, but I need to get serious and back to going down each week when we get home from our vacation at the end of June. DOTR did the HCG diet for 6 wks, lost 40 lbs., then lost another 23 on South Beach Supercharged. We just have one kid left at home so this is the first time we've really even had time to think about losing weight for years. Good luck. I like WW Online, but I think it works better if you follow some sort of diet and keep track of your points on it....or at least that's what has worked best for me.

  2. Hum, unfortunately I don't find too much repulsive but any rare meats totally gross me out (and I also don't like meat in general in the summer) and I am on a "part time" diet...LOL. Some days I am very very good, but some days well..use your imagination. Lets say today was not such a great day for dieting on my end:) But that burger sure was good:) I know so many people who have done well with WW one day I hope to find the motivation to do it myself and lose these stubborn 15-20 pounds once and for all! Normally summer time I eat lighter and am more active so hopefully a few pounds might come off with out my even really trying (yes I am probably dreaming) but it sounds good! Good luck!

  4. Eggs. Hate them
Also I am with you on the liver and black licorice and beets too.
    Love olives of any kind.
Dub Dub as my sister calls it has worked for her but I never liked the whole counting points deal.
I like food too much so I eat anything but I cut my portions and drink lots of water and try to ride my bike and walk.

  5. Tried the weight watchers plan - can't seem to get with this new program so I have pretty much left it - unfortunately I'm a junk food-aholic - I'll take a Big Mac anytime (God help me because when I eat one I can feel my arteries clogging!!)

    Bless your mom.....

  6. There isn't much food I don't like....which is probably my problem. I never understand people who are like, "oh, I hate sweets." Really? Are you human!? Ha!

Thanks for the book rec a few posts below - looks like a great beach read for when I'm in your neck of the woods next week ;)

  7. I agree about soft drinks. They are bad for you. Never drink one. And I don't like watermelon. Can you believe that? A six generation Georgian? Well Cokes and watermelon are not good to me. Diet? Cut portions in half. Go to the gym at least five days a week, walk and drink lots of water. And one glass of wine after 5 p.m. Good for what ails. Your mom sounds adorable. Write more about her and your brother. Love it.

  8. Totally repulsed by any artificial sweeteners! I use sugar sparingly in my coffee. I'm NOT giving that up. ;-). Hope WW is going well for you. Drinking tons of water makes such a difference on WW. I neglected my water this past week and didn't lose {or gain} an ounce. UGH. I have to stay steady to the course - but that was a bit discouraging. XOXO

  9. I hate olives too! I think they taste the way formaldehyde smells! Yuck!

I heart hobby lobby too. I'm afraid to check online to see if there's one in Anchorage...I'm afraid the answer might be no!

  10. 10 POINTS!!!! Holy Cow. I enjoy diet Coke but that is about it. Diet Cherry Limeades are nothing but nasty.
    Olives? Really? And Lamb? Yummy.
