A Beautiful Afternoon

Hank is on a shrimping expedition, so Lorelai and I larked out for King Street this afternoon for a little shopping. Retail therapy aside, it was one of the most beautiful afternoons weather-wise that we have had in ages. Sunny, no humidity, a light breeze blowing...a real blessing after some of the wretched hot and humid days in recent memory.

I learned the hard way that if shopping for myself, I need to go it alone. If Lor goes, then it is a given that it is going to be all about her...don't tell her, but it's fun for me either way. We walked and talked and she found a couple of outfits and a pair of shoes. Afterwards, we enjoyed an early dinner at High Cotton and headed back home. Since she managed to work the Clemson system to her advantage this semester, she doesn't have any Monday OR Friday classes, so she gets to enjoy a long weekends EVERY weekend. I'm deeply and profoundly jealous.

Hope that your weekend was a good one...

  6. I can't think of a better place to have been today than on King Street. I bet it was gorgeous. It was so humid it was almost unbearable when we there in August.

High Cotton sounds wonderful too! I am jealous.

  9. I am so jealous of your shopping expedition, but I know what you mean...I have two twentysomething daughters, and when shopping with them it's definitely all about them. Although I don't mind because things always look so adorable on them and on me....not so much.

My number 2 daughter is on Fall break at GT and after coming home to see her brother as an escort for Homecoming, she jetted off to NYC for the long weekend.

We lucked out with the weather for homecoming weekend because now....more rain. Sigh.

  10. No, no, no, I was hoping Lorelai was only interested in shopping for you. Then I could have shown my daughter, who mysteriously tires whenever I ask her to enter a store in hopes of me buying something, this post, and instilled some guilt. Darn it!
