Read in a smalltown weekly newspaper...

A wedding writeup...

" The groomsmen wore lime green come-habuns."

" Red candles were illuminating in beautiful candlelobstas."

Is the kid from the deli counter at the Piggly Wiggly moonlighting as a features writer for the paper?

  1. This made me laugh. It reminds me of the time DH and I ran into the drug store for candy before a movie (I know we cheat and buy on the cheap). We bought licorice. The kid ringing us up read the box and said "Hmmmm LICO- Rice (rhymes with psycho-rice) I've never heard of that" We still laugh about it!

  2. Oh I know a book you just have to read. It will crack you up.This local guy wrote it and published it himself. There are so many mispelled words it is funny but it is supposed to be serious.

I'll bet that writer is the same person that has a "chester drawer" for sale on craiglist! ;)

  5. Spell check, anyone? Funny, but sad - wouldn't you agree? I'm a Southern gal too, and these type of things are what get us viewed as hillbillies! Just sayin . . .

I'd love it if you would stop by my new endeavor - a blog of my own! Actually calling it a blog may be a stretch, but . . .

  6. Oh good grief! Now this is just pathetic. They are closing a few schools around our state due to the swine flu panic. When I read this post and your Piggly Wiggly post to one of the Doctors that I work with, his comment was that we can't afford to close schools - they are ignorant enough already. Kathy

  12. Sounds like South Carolina.

I just don't get it. There are so many amazing teachers in this state, but clearly the issue is beyond their education.

  14. I agree about Spanish being important to learn! My parents are doing just the opposite right now and are teaching English as a Second Language to the Hispanic population in Elloree. They teach it every Sunday night at their church and say that the people they teach are so eager to learn English!
