I got tagged awhile ago by The Beaufort Lookout and Becs Bohemia, to write seven weird or random things about myself. I did a similar post not long ago but since I am REALLY REALLY weird I bet I can come up with seven more....
1. I became a church organist at the age of 14.
2. I thought once that I wanted to be a caterer until I did two "jobs" for friends and realized what hard work it is...DANG...I was exhausted.
3. My uncle (my daddy's brother) was an undertaker who lived in an apartment over the funeral home. We'd go by to visit him a couple of evenings a week and if he was "working" we'd visit in the funeral home itself. It was all very "six feet under" and dead bodies don't really bother me much as long as they aren't the bodies of people I knew. (yes, I find it disturbing also...)
4. Because I was a church musician for nearly 25 years, having started so young, I've been Methodist, Baptist, Episcopalian, Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian...in that order.
5. I'm not a church musician anymore.
6. I would love to own a little southern belle shop stocked with all kinds of southern, preppy and lowcountry things...clothing, shoes, gifts, books, and all manner of doodads....
7. I'm addicted to my Blackberry....SERIOUSLY addicted
I'm tagging ANY AND ALL FOLLOWERS...if you haven't done this one yet...TAG...you're it!

I am addicted to my blackberry too, did you read the article about people choosing their blackberries over their spouses?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on you award. You deserve it.
ReplyDeleteLoved the tag. I will do it soon.
I would love to hear you play. You should do a video of yourself.
Congrats on the Award...
ReplyDeleteI don't usually do the Tag thing..but this looks like a fun one..I'll have to give it some thought...isn't it funny how much you can get to know about someone through blogging.
I love it! I don't think they are 7 weird things. I think it is just 7 things that make you even more interesting.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award! So cute :) You were an organist for your church at 14? That is awesome...I only know the piano...everytime I tried to use my grandpa's organ at his house, I just couldn't get the hang of it!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the BlackBerry thing. I carry it with me everywhere. I keep it on the counter when I take a shower. It goes next to me when I go to bed. Kind of crazy.
ReplyDeleteI am really loving #3 on your list. I have good friends who own our local funeral home and "it is a different world". :)
ReplyDeleteOne more thing... I bleed orange, also - for the Vols. And this season we are truly "bleeding"... as are ya'll...sorry to hear about Coach Bowden.
ReplyDeleteYay congrats on the award! You deserve it!
ReplyDeleteSending even MORE bloggy love your way! Come on over and get your award.
ReplyDelete#6 would be lots of fun - you just need to DO IT!
ReplyDeleteHave a good afternoon - Kellan
Congrats on your award! It was fun to learn a little bit about you, I too am addicted to my crackberry :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing this since you have done it before.
ReplyDeleteBy the way...we have something in common...I too would love to own my own little southern belle boutique!!
By the way, personal question...which "religious sect" did you find you identified best with?
Ah...which "religious sect" did I identify best with? I was raised Methodist so that had a big influence. I enjoyed my time in the Baptist churches because the music was always such a wonderful balance of grand with a little gospel and some contemporary thrown in. On the other hand, the formality of the Episcopal and Lutheran churches was tremendously appealing. We're currently members of the Presbyterian church where the music and people are wonderful BUT I'm not the church musician. It's a pretty good composite of all except for the Baptist "hell fire and brimstone" (which I also like a good dose of occasionally). I guess I'm what you'd call a product of the religious Melting Pot! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the honest answer. I too was raised Methodist but now attend a Southern Baptist church. I am having a hard time with some of the different ideologoies and theologies and really miss the Methodist church. If only I could get my husband to change.
