Making a run for it...

Mother is thinking of making a run for it...

She called on Saturday afternoon...

Mother: I guess there's nothing I can do about this moving thing. You've made all the decisions and plans.

Me: Yes ma'am. Everything is planned. We're moving furniture next Saturday and you and Ned will spend your first night in your new places on Sunday night.

Mother: I don't like it...

Me: I know and I'm sorry but waiting longer won't make it any easier. Ned is SO happy and excited about his new house.

Mother: No he's NOT!

(watch how I just let that one go...)

Me: OK then...(and even though we'll talk to her at least 25 times between now and then I say...) We'll see you about 10:00 next Saturday morning.

Mother: Not if we're not HERE you WON'T!

...and Thursday was SUCH a good day...

I'd like to make a run for it too...Tahiti is probably really nice right now...

  1. Sounds like you are holding up well with it all! Keep holding on - and find an umbrella to go in your tea, prop up your feet and play some summer music! hehe

  5. At least she's going out with some spunk belle. I guess I sort of hope I am the same way! She will eventually love it there, companions perfect! Be strong, I have all 3 of you on my prayer list. I was truly proud to see Ned so excited!
    Drop by the swing sometime!

  7. Oh Dear. You have my sympathies & hang in there. Try to do something relaxing, take a bubble bath, go shopping, eat a whole box of chocolates... AND don't answer the phone for awhile! ☺♥☺ Diane

  11. We have some fun stories about my Grandma. She raised 9 children, worked til she was 93, loved her kids and all the grandkid (me) and she had a strong faith - inspiring each of us.
Respecting our elders was instilled at an early age, and I guess for you too, even though Tahiti does sound nice. May I join you?

(side note, do you know where another blogger looking for a piano might look, she has always wanted one her entire life...would you know, are there any frugal tips, for piano shopping?)
thanks so much. All this is just to divert your attention to another project...lol!

  14. As I have said before, you have an amazing amount of patience.

I waved a bunch while we were in your state. We spent two nights(3/7 & 3/14) in hotels. It is rather sad that my sister ended up not wanting us as house guests. Oh, well, families are a ton of fun.

    Hugs,
    Lisa

  15. I didn't read posts yesterday, so I am just now seeing this. You are so fabulous with your mom. And you can tell her the next time that she talks about making a run for it, that there are many of us who would like to make a run for it from time to time - tell her that you might be making a run for it with her ;-) You so deserve a fabulous trip to a fabulous place!!

  19. Oh my goodness. She is so stubborn bless her heart. I hope things change for the better once they both get situated. Hopefully she'll completely forget why she thought this was a bad idea!
